After upgrading my iPad mini (6th generation) to OS 26.01 my touchpad no longer works. This means I cannot access apps such as Messenger etc that are secured by my fingerprint

Would this be an external Apple Magic TrackPad, a trackpad integral to the Apple Magic Keyboard or folio keyboard for iPad, or something else?
For the Magic and folio keyboards for iPad, disconnect the iPad from the keyboard - and carefully/gently clean the smart connector contacts on both the iPad and keyboard with a soft pencil eraser (a drafting-film eraser is ideal). Ensure that the contacts on both iPad and keyboard are dirt and dust free - and all debris from the eraser have been removed - before reconnecting the two.

Problem is now intermittent
Me too but a bit different.
Ipad mini 6 couldn't slide screen to power off & switch off the background running app.
Finger slide function in some circumstances were handicap....
