Before the update you would normally go into your contacts and from there could share you location with someone. But now it looks like you have to go into Find My and add them as a friend before you can share you location?

I’m using iOS 26.0.1 and can share location using Contacts just as before. The contact need not even have any Apple gear.
Check Settings > Privacy & Security > Location Services > Share My Location.
