Big flaw in call history in ios 26 version

After updating to ios26 version for my iPhone 16 pro there is a flaw in call history. When look up for recent call received in the call history it is not showing ‘recent’ against the phone No. received when that contact has multiple Nos. Whereas in iOS 18 version it will clearly show the recent call received when we click i button in case of multiple Nos. for a contact. Will the Apple take up the issue and set it alright

I am using an iPhone 14 Pro Max, and after upgrading to version 26.0.1, I’ve been experiencing the following issues:

Recent Contact Details Not Showing:

The phone history intermittently appears empty. When I try to save a new contact, it doesn’t appear in the “Recent Contacts” list. This becomes critical in emergency situations when I need to access recent contact details quickly.

Message Delays (Airtel eSIM):

I am using an Airtel network with an eSIM. Since the upgrade, text messages are either not received or take a long time to arrive. I contacted Airtel and even replaced the eSIM, but the issue persists. Airtel support mentioned it could be a software-related issue. This problem was not present in iOS 18. Additionally, I have to restart my phone to receive messages, and OTPs are often delayed, which is very inconvenient.

Intermittent Phone Hanging:

The phone occasionally hangs or freezes. This issue also did not occur in iOS 18.

I was just on with Apple Support and they denied it being an issue even though I was able to recreate the issue on a chat line with them. It would be nice if Apple via their support team acknowledge this bug since we went through the exact troubleshooting and workaround steps as in the response by TheLittles below. Its truly 'bugging' me that Support does not acknowledge this bug.

Hi Balasubramanian,

Apple executives will ask you to press the volume rockers and press the power button to initiate a restart sequence, but it isn’t a permanent fix. After 1/2 to 1 day, you’ll notice that the issue still persists.

If the exact issue is that in the phone app, you get the message, “No Recents”, I have figured something that helped in my case. I am sharing the steps so that you can try them to rectify this.

steps:

  1. delete any vpn profile you may have in your phone from the general settings.
  2. go to the settings for the phone app.
  3. you’ll have to turn off call screening for unknown numbers and you will also have to stop using the “silence calls from unknown numbers” option.

I followed these steps and haven’t seen the issue again.

while it is tedious to deal with the aftermath, you’ll at least see your call history.

If that wasn’t the issue, at least you know how to get through this one. Also, this issue seems to be a known bug in IOS 26 and it was scheduled for a fix on the 19th of November, but it still isn’t available, so please try what I’ve shared. At the very least, you’ll get your call logs without further persisting issues.

Hi mate,

this was informed to me by a representative in apple support during a cellular conversation and the date was clarified them. During another conversation, I had been asked to perform these steps to get rid of the “No Recents” seen in the phone app under the “recents” section in the phone app.

The issue I addressed was about the numerous recorded cases( as explained by the same exec at Apple) were being resolved on 19.11.2025, but no responses were received. BTW I am from the India, and it may be that the response may have been specifically for the Indian customers. I found this issue, and had the thought that I should highlight the steps for anyone getting the same error in the phone app after updating for the IOS 26. In case this response wasn’t appropriate to this issue, please feel free to ignore this response.

Others posted already. But if the caller ID is a truncated version from the network, it may not display. For example I save all my contacts with all country codes, but the network brings and show only local part of the number when someone calls me. Then it cannot display "recent" for it. I donna know if it was the case before iOS26 as well.

Also some others said that when filtering unknown callers is turned off, it works even before iOS26.2
