Email from Apple (apparently) saying American Express is viewing Apple purchase details

Anyone seen, or have advice on this email. American Express sees nothing unusual on their side. If it's a scam, what's the hook? There's nothing to click on or do.

Email from: Apple <no_reply@email.apple.com>

 Hello,
Thank you for viewing purchase details associated with the Apple Account (my email here) through American Express in the last 24 hours. If this was you or someone authorized to view your American Express purchases, there is nothing more to do. Keep in mind that if you are part of Family Sharing for Apple, your family organizer may have viewed your purchases.
If you or someone authorized did not view your purchase details, please contact American Express.
Regards,
Apple Support

Could it be phishing and not from Apple or Amex at all? Scammers like getting you to click on something so they can get your sign-in information.

Started getting same email October 1st

evertime I update AMEX on quicken I get the email about viewing a purchase

all I get from Apple is a $2.99 iCloud purchase each month but I get that email every time I use quicken to update AMEX

haven’t found a way to turn it off

AMEX and Apple support were useless because it’s a Quicken issue

just another stupid daily email to delete

I am having the same issue, but when I click on "Me Too" above, the button just spins with no completion.

That said, both my "family member" and I have received multiple copies of the same email shown above. As indicated by p58driver, there's no clear "phishing" action to be taken. And I am confused that Apple would be sending a message to check my American Express account (vs. checking my Apple account). I check my Amex account almost daily and no unusual activity.

I am surprised there has been no other response to this thread.

Strange. I guess that means every time a recurring Apple charge is incurred on my AMEX account I will get one or more of these. Did they tell you a way to turn it off?

Turn it off? I don't use Amex but my credit card company offers to email me whenever a purchase is made with my card. I most definitely do NOT want to disable that. If my card is compromised I want to know that ASAP. I know if I did want to disable it I simply have to sign into my card's account and uncheck a button.

I agree with getting AMEX updates. But this one is not a purchase notification from AMEX, or Apple. It is an obtuse notification from Apple that doesn't say I have purchased anything. If I get a purchase notification I expect to get information on what I purchased and how much. This just says, something may have happened and to check with AMEX for what it was or wasn't. If that it all it is, it has little value. If it is trying to say something else, no one has determined what that is.

I 100% think you are correct here. But what puzzles me is why this trifecta? I.e. Quicken + This bank (Amex) + an Apple Transaction? Seems like such a corner case. Quicken pulls a whole bunch of transactions (not just Apple). Amex notifies Apple for some reason. And then Apple responds by sending an email to the account owner. Just odd. But, nice to have a plausible explanation. Thanks!!!
