Can't transfer backups from my old iPhone 14 Pro Max to iPhone 16 Pro Max with error

Trying to transfer from old 14 pro max to new 16pro max plus and keep failing saying cannot restore from backup. Have done 2 new backups and tried numerous times but keeps failing and driving me mental !!

Hello. Here's how you fix it:

Set up your new iPhone as a fresh one!
Update it to iOS 26 ( Or Developer/Public beta if you have it installed )
Reset your new iPhone
Set it up using your iPhone 14 Pro Max backup

I’m confused. Why would you not first complete your update to iOS 26.0.1 and then go about restoring?
