iPhone 17 pro max video flicker

I have observed a flickering issue while recording in 4K 60p using the Apple camera app. Concerned by this, I contacted Apple Support for guidance. During our discussion, I was asked whether I was using any MagSafe accessories and whether I was using a lens cover or key protector. No to both. Apple performed a remote diagnostic on my device and confirmed that the hardware appears to be functioning properly. Based on this, I believe the issue may be related to software. Interestingly, the support representative suggested testing a different camera application; I tried ProCamera and did not experience the flickering problem with it. This suggests that the root cause might be a software-related glitch within the Camera app itself. Restarting the phone temporarily alleviates the issue, although it tends to reoccur after a few days. I remain optimistic that future software updates will help resolve this. 

I just got my iPhone 17 Pro a few weeks ago, and I’ve noticed the same thing you’re experiencing! It first popped up when I was recording a video with WhatsApp Camera, and then I saw it in the camera app too. It only happens when I switch to video mode, but it doesn’t happen when I’m zoomed in at 0.5x. I checked with Final Cut Pro, and as some of you have mentioned, I didn’t see the issue there either. So, I’m guessing it’s a software bug. Restarting the phone has actually fixed it for now, at least. Let’s see if it sticks around for a few days and I’ll update you then. Right now, my device is running iOS 26.0.1, and I checked the 26.1 version before updating, but I couldn’t find anything about the camera flickering bug fix. Maybe I missed something.

I don’t believe it’s a hardware issue. Have you tried using another camera app, like Final Cut Pro? When I tried that, I didn’t notice the problem. It only occurs when using the camera app or through apps like WhatsApp. Which iOS version are you currently using?

It goes away if you disable HDR video. I hope they find a fix soon

same problem on iphone 17 pro, recording HD 60 fps, what helps: turn the iphone off/on. Where can I contact support about that? They should work on it and fix it.

It seems to have disappeared with the 26.1 update !

I never saw this issue since 26.1 public (I never used beta software)

i also have an issue with my 17 pro max with video flickering while recording at HD and any frame rate using the 24mm lens. When i restart the phone, it works for a while and then the issue comes back. I’ve restarted 3 times already. Is this a hardware problem or IOS 26.0.1?

What video format and resolution are you shooting? What app are you using?
