How to configure for Phone Speaker & possibly AirPods only - no other devices listed

While on a phone call, I'd like to switch to the speaker. Sometimes...

when the phone is the only device around... Speaker button switches to speaker immediately
when the phone and AirPods are around... Speaker button shows Speaker & AirPods as options
when the phone is around other devices... Speaker button lists multiple other devices... my laptop, my ipad, even my wife's laptop, and others at various times even tin the same location, all in addition to the Speaker & AirPods options

How can I disable behavior #3 persistently?

iPhone 16 Pro Max, iOS 26

I'm going to guess that ALL of the other devices are on the same Apple Account? I can see your iPad and laptop (assuming it's a MacBook) give you the option. But your wife's devices shouldn't unless they are on the same Apple Account. And if they are, you and your wife should NOT share an Apple Account.

But at least in the interim, you can open Settings on your iPhone > Apps > Phone and turn off Call on Other Devices.

Greatly appreciate the response. Very good point and seeing my wife's device made me post. I've been able to see my devices for a while (previous major OS update I believe). I had "call on other devices" off but would still see the devices. I turned off handoff today to see if that changes things moving forward.

They are on different accounts - we do not share a single account. But we are in the same "Family" - would that apply here?

Still hunting how to not see other devices on the phone so I can quickly get to speaker/airpods.
