Thank you kindly for taking the time to experiment further, and for your reply.

You might want to send feedback to those who work on the software behind-the-scenes at Apple. They will likely not reply, yet they do carefully read, and log, all feedback, and if others have a similar issue, we may see an update that addresses it.

The more feedback they receive on which hardware models and software versions are affected, the more likely we will see an update.

Cheers for the advice, But have been through everything that is it 'Could' be ....

Sussed out but its not fixed yet, but it's silenced on all my contacts, if I turn off my contacts then messages come through as they should ?!

So come through with just a number showing, the minute I turn them back on again it goes silent!

Also after the first message has come through and I have replied it works as it should also, but isn't really a fix is it !

Re: Messages not showing on Lock screen

You may need to check you do not have "Do Not Disturb" / "Focus" turned on.

ie: Settings > Focus > Do Not Disturb

Else:

Wondering whether Message notifications were accidentally "muted" or "turned off" for the Lock Screen:

Eg:

Apple Support's online article:

Use notifications on your iPhone or iPad - Apple Support

Eg: says:

"To manage your notifications from the Lock Screen or Notification Centre:

  1. Swipe left over an alert or group of alerts.
  2. Tap Options, then select from these options:
    • Mute for 1 Hour
    • Mute for Today
    • View Settings
    • Turn Off"

Re: (not) ... "giving me the ping"

Above linked article also says where to check :

"Change how notifications sound for a specific app

  1. Go to Settings > Notifications.
  2. Under Notification Style, tap the app you want to edit notifications for.
  3. Tap Sounds to turn on audio alerts for a specific app. For certain apps like FaceTime or Messages, you can select a specific tone to play with each notification from that app.

If your phone is silenced or the volume is turned down completely, notification sounds will not play."
