iPhone 17 Pro Max battery draining rapidly - 47% in 4.5 hours

I recently purchased the iPhone 17 Pro Max, and I’ve been experiencing some frustrating battery issues. In just under 4.5 hours of normal use at standard brightness, the battery drained by around 47%. Given Apple's claims of a significant battery boost, I expected much more from this device. It's been quite stressful, as the reality doesn’t match the claim made.

YouTube can be a heavy use app especially if the content is 4K and HD. Streaming can be very battery intensive. Also 4G is not nearly as efficient as 5G. It has a range advantage, but that means higher battery consumption too. In indoor settings screen brightness should be no higher than about ⅓ brightness. Auto brightness is another option.

Basically, 47%, is not terrible battery consumption. Extrapolate it out and it 9 hours of battery. Considering your usage and applications, that’s pretty reasonable.

What are the 5 or 6 apps using the most battery capacity?

You should be charging your phone all night every night and I recommend using the Optimized Charge setting. If you are using a charge limit, you are already starting each day with a partially depleted battery. Your phone under any iOS version is going to drop several percent overnight while idle. What you described is having all day battery life and exactly what you want. Don't get caught up comparing Screen on/off time as you can see adding the 2 together never equals 24 hours which are the only 2 states other than when your device is powered off.
