why is Apple not allowing me to cancel my Apple subscription
When I hit the cancel button it just sits there and will not authorize the cancellation. This is illegal for Apple to do this.

Are you using an VPN, they have been known to cause internet connectivity problems. If you are, try removing it, simply turning it off does not resolve the connectivity issues.
