i want to stop my iphone pics being shared with my ipad

My iPad is old. I don’t want pics from my phone transferring automatically to my iPad. The problem may be that if I manage to stop this happening will it also stop my pics from my phone being stored in the cloud ?

iPhone 12 Pro, iOS 18

On your iPad, go to Settings > [name on top] > iCloud > Photos, and turn off the sync option. This will stop the photos from syncing with the iPad and will have no effect on your other devices. You would also be able to delete the photos on the iPad without them being removed from iCloud, as long as the sync option is turned off at that location.

It is true that any new photos on your iPad will no longer sync to iCloud, but I gather from your post that you do not want your iPhone photos being synced to your iPad.
