[ This is a bit long ] Well here is a direction I hadn't considered, which I got to from a totally unrelated comment about something else. The question is, how many "authorized" macs do I have? You cannot have more than 5, and your mac has to be authorized in order to do home sharing. If you already have 5 and try to do home sharing, it simply fails to connect. And because I was trying to use a machine beyond my likit, iPhones and Ipods failed to connect. (Mobile devices, by the way, don't need to be authorized but even those have a limit of 10, I think.) But as far as I can see, you don't get any kind of error message. Sharing simply fails silently. (Who wrote that sharing code?) You can see the number of authorized Macs from the desktop Music app. Go to Accounts ==> Account Settings ==> Authorized devices. I had to "deauthorize all" because I've been a Mac user for a VERY long time and you can only deauthorize a specific Mac from the Mac you're trying to deauthorize.
Not here. Using 26.2, Mac-to-Mac home sharing continues to fail in the same way.
Same issue here. Still no resolution as of Jan 2026.
Problem still persists with Tahoe 23.3.
