Nike Run Club and Apple Watch Outdoor Run

For the last few years I have been able to run both Nike Run Club and the Outdoor Run on my watch. In order to do this, I start Nike Run Club first on my phone and put the phone in my pocket and then start my watch for an outdoor run. Reason for using both is Nike Run can track shoe mileage and Apple Watch for more stats. This has worked well until September.

Since the latest IOS 26 Nike Run randomly pauses (auto pause taken off in settings so I know that isn't the issue) and seemingly more so when I've closed my move ring or exercise ring. Seems fine on very short runs of less than 30 minutes.

All software (Nike, IOS etc all up to date)

I guess I could uninstall Nike Run Club off my watch but I do use it for treadmill runs or an Apple Fitness + treadmill run (again to track mileage of shoes) so would have to keep uninstalling and reinstalling the app which isn't ideal.

If this started after the watchOS 26 upgrade, let Apple know directly about it by using the Feedback link:

Did you check, if in the Health App -> Activity -> Data Sources & Access - Apps Allowed to Read Data, Nike Running is on the list and enabled?

Could also be, that you will have to enable this in Activity -> Walking & Running Distance -> Data Sources & Access -> Apps Allowed to Read Data.

When I was still using the Nike Connect app to keep track of my workout gear, I used a 3rd party app "RunGap" to share the Health data with the Nike app.

Yes. Nike had no solutions aside from the usual making sure location services are on etc etc.

I’ve uninstalled Nike from watch, turned off auto pause and still does it when exercise / move ring is closed. Also turned off live workout on phone under workouts in fitness.

I suspect the issue lies with Apple as this only started when IOS 26 introduced.
