If you do not have another Trusted Device, then add a Recovery Contact or Trusted Phone number to your account and you won't have to use Account Recovery where a waiting period is required. You need to be using Two Factor Authentication.

The first time you log into your account from a device, you will then need to enter the Verification Code. To be clear, you can change your Password anytime you want without a delay, the only time the delay is required is when you do not know your own password or your account has been locked for security reasons because someone else attempted to login into your account too many times with the wrong password. Luckily Apple prevents that otherwise brute force attacks would be able to gain access to all of your information and lock you out of your own account.

You want your data to be secure. We all do.

Your brute-force efforts are indistinguishable from an attacker brute-forcing your iPhone.

Repeatedly trying password prompts is — with very few exceptions — the exact wrong thing to do.

Apple gets a lot of people trying to bypass security. Some legitimate. Some not.

The Apple password recovery policies are a compromise between ease of access for those that forget passwords, and those trying to bypass others’ passwords.

Write your password down somewhere safe, or pick the first letter or two letters from each word from a line from a favorite song as a password, or something else that you find memorable. And set up your recovery paths, as suggested in the earlier reply.

One big problem: do not re-use passwords. Particularly if you don’t have two-factor authentication enabled. Lots of folks re-used passwords, and didn’t have two-factor enablee, and permanently lost theirmApple Accounts.
