iPhone 17 pro camera flash stuck on and picture doesn’t save using camera app
Sometimes when taking a photo (using standard camera app) with Flash set to ON the flash does not turn off and it does not take a picture. It animates the screen as though it has taken a picture but there is no image stored in the gallery.
When the issue occurs the flash remains on and it won’t take another picture until either closing and reopening the app or changing from photo to video and back again. This turns off the flash and then will take pictures again until the issue happens again.
Some additional info:
- I believe it might be only whenever macro shot is enabled + active (yellow macro icon on)
- I have HEIC48 set though with flash active it wouldn’t be taking 48MP photos
- it happens regardless of both Live Photo or Night mode being auto or off
- It might be happening if there’s movement as it’s being taken as it seems to be taking longer to focus but this is me speculating might be effect rather than cause
- I don’t think it happens if a manual focus has been set by tapping on a point on the screen (not 100% certain)
- I don’t think it happens if the subject is bright and it can focus quickly
- It occurs regardless of the image being taken by hardware button or by tapping the button on screen
- I am on latest iOS 26.0.1
- Turning the phone off and on has not prevented the issue from reoccurring.
Has anyone else encountered a similar issue?
