iPhone 17 camera clicking and high-pitched noise issue

I recently got a new iPhone 17 (base model) and noticed two things that seem unusual compared to my previous iPhones:

  1. There’s a clearly audible clicking sound every time I open the Camera app.
  2. When using the front camera, there’s a high-pitched noise or hiss that’s audible when I bring the phone close to my ear — and the same noise can even be heard in videos recorded with the front camera.

I haven’t experienced anything like this on my earlier iPhones, so I’m wondering — do other iPhone 17 owners hear the same sounds, or could my unit be defective?

You need to have Apple perform diagnostics on your iPhone. It can be done in person at an Apple Retail Store or at an Apple Authorized Service Provider. You can also contact Apple Support and request remote diagnostics.
