Password Change Loop on iPhone 15

I used Safari to try to sign into my Apple account with the intention of changing my password, however, apple.com wasn't accepting my password to sign into my Apple account online, so then I went to the Firefox browser, and easily signed in. This made me suspicious that I had put my Apple ID & password into a fake apple.com, so I queried about changing the password and was informed this must happen on a device, so I went to my phone and successfully changed the password. Then it asked if I wanted to sign out of all my devices - yes, but then it asked me to enter the new password, so I entered a slightly newer version of the new password, and then it immediately came back to Enter the new password, and I realized it was in a loop and had to back out of the windows several times to get out.
