Trade-in process for iPhone 17 Pro Max reservation in the UK

Hi everyone!

I have a question about the Apple Trade-In program in the UK, or if this will work everywhere.

I want to buy an iPhone 17 Pro Max in the new orange color, but that color isn’t currently available in stock.

The Apple Specialist told me that, once the model becomes available, I can place the order online with trade-in and then complete the trade-in in-store when I go to pick up the phone.

However, the website says I need to provide an address to receive the trade-in mail-in kit, and I actually live in Ireland, not the UK.

So I’m wondering:

➡️ Can I buy the phone online at full price (to secure the reservation) and then complete the trade-in at the store when I pick it up?

➡️ If so, is the trade-in value refunded to the same payment card, or provided as store credit/gift card?

➡️ And if my online order is already set as a “mail-in trade-in,” can I just bring my old iPhone to the store instead of mailing it?

If anyone from Apple or someone who has gone through this process before can confirm, I’d really appreciate it! 🙏

Purchase online and set to pick up in the store. Do the trade in at the store at time of pickup. Contact Apple to see if you can still modify your current order. If not, cancel current order and reorder for store pickup. Trade in is usually credited at time of purchase if done in store. Read the fine print for tradein offer in your country. In many countries the trade in value is given in the from of Apple Gift cards.

There is no one from Apple here and Apple does not participate on this forum. We are users like you.

You can reserve the phone online for in store pickup and do the trade-in at the store in that case. You must designate a store for pickup when making the online order.

I believe if you reserve for home delivery you will get a return kit a couple of days after your new phone gets delivered to your home. And I think you have to use that method to return it.

In either case you will not get the exchange refund until Apple receives the phone and validates the price.

Hope this helps.
