Hi, yes this is getting to be a fairly well known issue an it now being reported in multiple social media websites and group. You’ll need to contact Apple support or visit an Apple Retail Store. If you have an issue in a retail store, you’ll need to speak with a member of the management team and seek a resolution together.

You will need to start with a Genius Bar reservation. If you’re in the US, please call  1-800-MY-APPLE, or outside the US, consult the support articles below. In Canada, call 1-800-263-3394.

The terms of the warranty are explicit. A new device in retail packaging is not provided as a replacement under the terms of the warranty agreement.

This is basically a non-negotiable portion of the warranty. I’m a former Apple Store manager and I had a lot of discretionary authority concerning customer service and satisfaction issues. This is one of the few situations I could not override as a manager.

No one here works for Apple and no one can assist with this issue. Please contact Apple for further assistance.

“… [a] know (sic) issue …”

Known to YOU; and now “alleged to” the relative handful of fellow users here; who have zero capacity to act on your behalf. (we are not “Apple”)

You have to give Apple the opportunity to “make it right”

You have been provided with the contact mechanisms to do so.

Remember — Apple most certainly did NOT want your phone to turn “pink”, so communicate with them accordingly.

Apple has only released a statement on how to clean an iPhone. I believe this is in response to one post specifically mentioning that they used hydrogen peroxide to clean their iPhone.

Hydrogen peroxide has virtually no effect on properly anodized aluminum. This could mean an issue with a small batch of anodized frames in cosmic orange.

The orange color is derived from organic dyes and if not properly sealed, UV can affect the dyes. Since no one is turning over the iPhones to Apple for analysis, it’s just as likely someone with too much time on their hands and access to Photoshop.

No, they gave you a service replacement, not a "serviced phone".

A service replacement may be new or remanufactured. There is no way for you or anyone at Apple to tell the difference. Given the short time since that model was released, it's virtually guaranteed to be a new device.

Service replacements have a different model number than retail devices, regardless of their manufacturing status.
