iPhone 17 pro max Side buttons don’t function when in case

just recieved my brand new iPhone 17 pro max. Side buttons don’t function ptroperly when inserted in two different cases: the first case from TORRO (which I returned) and a second case Porter Riley. This is very frustrating. Can it be that two different firms produce faulty design and allow faulty items in the market! NB: Side buttons function when not in case.
