Convert photos from HEIC to JPEG to be compatible with Google device.

I was recently given a Google Chromebook to use for work. My company uses Google Drive for all file sharing. I take photos on my personal iPhone, which is currently running iOS 18.6.2, then upload them to drive to share with my team. When I just uploaded a bunch of .HEIC images then tried to open them on my Chromebook, I got an error message that the Chromebook does not support that file type. How can I convert all the images I took on my phone to JPEG or PNG so when I upload them to Google Drive I can open them on my Chromebook?

Check Settings>Apps>Photos>Transfer (near the bottom) and see if you have "Automatic" chosen rather than originals, since your originals seem to be heic. If the phone sees a modern computer OS, it will use heic; if it sees an older one, then it will use jpg. You may need to send the pictures directly to the older computer rather than to a drive to get the automatic conversion.

You can find apps that will convert heic to jpg, maybe even for free.

For the future, you can set Settings>Camera>Formats to "Most Compatible."
