Unintended transfer from Apple Card to Apple Account card instead of Apple Cash

first time adding money to Apple Pay, by mistake money was transferred from Apple Card to Apple account card did not go to Apple Cash now they will not reverse the money. I’m forced to use the Apple account card to buy Apple products that’s not fair.

  • It is not possible to make a transfer from the Apple Card to Apple Cash. That is called a Cash Advance and not a feature of the Apple Card. The Apple Card is a credit card.
  • It is not possible to redeem an Apple Gift Card to Apple Cash. There is no cash value to a Gift Card, they are only used for purchases of Apple products, services, or App Store transactions. The same is true for other Gift Cards, for example, a Google Play Gift Card is only for purchases in the Google Play store without any way to redeem for cash.

Did you mistakenly transfer money from a Debit card to your Apple Account instead of Apple Cash? If that was the case, then you may be able to contact Apple directly to see if they can reverse the transaction. From your post it is not clear what your intentions were as you said you added money to Apple Pay and Apple Pay is not an account that holds any money.

That implies that you transferred money from whatever source to Apple Account balance. Refer to Check your Apple Account balance - Apple Support You are correct, normally once funds are in Apple Account balance the only way to get them out again is to spend them, or ask Apple to keep them.

There are posts (e.g., Accidentally added funds to Apple ID rath… - Apple Community ) claiming that if funds were transferred from Apple Cash or a bank account, Apple might grant a reversal request of the original transfer back to the originating account. This is not mentioned in Apple’s documentation (which, if anything, pretty firmly states the opposite about no “return” of funds), so even if Apple might do this on occasion, they are not so obligated. You can use the Apple Card (Mastercard) for any purchase, not just purchases of Apple products, but you cannot get a Cash Advance on the Apple Card. Some credit cards do allow a Cash Advance, but they charge you for that service.

The screenshot you posted is for your Apple Account and can be used for these types of purchases. It is also the account where you would see the funds of a Gift Card after it has been redeemed.

What you can buy with your Apple Gift Card or Apple Account balance - Apple Support

The other 2 types of Apple related cards you may see in your wallet that can be used for any kind of purchase are:

  • Apple Card - Credit Card managed by Mastercard
  • Apple Cash - Similar to a prepaid card and can also be linked to a Debit card. Cash transactions do not offer the same protections of a Credit Card. Particularly when using Apple Cash to send money to another person over Messages, you want to make absolutely sure you know that person. They are not required to return the money, just like if you gave someone $20 on the street.

I'm still not entirely clear what happened. However, you can use the Apple Card (Mastercard) anywhere Mastercard is accepted.

Contact Apple directly using this link and tell them you accidentally added money to your Apple Account (I assume that is what you mean by Apple Card) instead of Apple Cash and see if they can reverse the transaction.

Contact Apple Support - Apple Support

The Apple Account is used for Gift Card redemptions and they are not refundable, so you will not be able to transfer any funds in the Apple Account to cash. For a little advice, I would stick to the term "reverse transaction", instead of saying you want a refund. While the results will be the same to you, the process and meaning is slightly different.
