split times not announced in run workout

I have an apple watch series 8. I used to be able to use the run workout on the watch and every mile it would announce "split one pace 9 minutes 15 seconds" but I just updated to watchOS 26.0.2 and the splits are no longer announced. My watch doesn't do anything on splits except make a very light vibration. I have Alerts on Watch and voice feedback turned on but no luck. Any help would be appreciated.
