Persistent washed-out color issue on iPhone 13 Pro Max after iOS 18.7 update

Subject: Persistent washed-out color issue on iPhone 13 Pro Max since iOS 18.7

Since updating to iOS 18, my iPhone 13 Pro Max shows noticeably washed-out colors, especially in red, green, and blue tones.

The color calibration (gamma or Display P3 profile) seems off, as images and videos appear colder and less saturated compared to other Apple devices.

I have already tried:

– Clean installation (without restoring backups)

– Disabling True Tone, Night Shift, and auto-brightness

– Adjusting accessibility and color filters

None of these steps fixed the issue. This affects photos, video playback, and editing apps.

Please consider reviewing the gamma or color profile calibration in future iOS 18 or iOS 26 updates, especially for iPhone 13 Pro Max (A2484).

Thank you for your attention. I hope this display issue can be corrected soon.

The first screen replacement was due to the common iPhone 13 Pro Max white screen failure, which appeared unexpectedly and out of warranty.

The repair center did not allow me to keep the defective display because it had to be returned to Apple for analysis and disposal.

The second replacement was unplanned. During a battery replacement, I mentioned the same color-related issues to the iShop technician. He inspected the device and discovered that the display connector had not been seated properly. He reconnected it as a courtesy. New display

However, even after that, the issue with the display’s color calibration persisted. The technician showed me that his own iPhone 15 Pro running iOS 18 exhibited the same desaturated color behavior, suggesting it could be a software-level calibration or gamma issue rather than a hardware defect.

You’re welcome!

Your options are to talk with the shop that did the screen repair. They may not have updated the firmware.

Your next option is to contact Apple Support. You need to have Apple perform diagnostics on your iPhone. It can be done in person at an Apple Retail Store or at an Apple Authorized Service Provider. You can also contact Apple Support and request remote diagnostics.

I have an update regarding your previous advice.

I contacted Apple Support, and they ran a remote diagnostic. Their recommendation was to visit the iShop store, where the screen replacement was originally done. The

technicians there performed a full diagnostic and concluded that everything was "normal."

However, I shared visual evidence comparing my iPhone 13 Pro Max to other units (including iPhone 13 Pro and 13 Pro Max models owned by colleagues), and the difference in color reproduction was clearly visible — their displays looked more vivid and balanced, while mine remained washed out.

The iShop team confirmed that the screen and hardware are fine, and since this is already my second screen replacement, they couldn't identify what else could be wrong. They even reset my device and reinstalled ios 26.0.1, but the issue persists exactly the same.

At this point, I honestly don't know what else to do. The display looks lifeless and lacks contrast, and no one seems to have a definitive answer. I really need help or a higher-level review from Apple to determine whether this is a software-level gamma or color calibration issue.
