Apple iPhone 17 Pro poor contrast with message keyboard

I just purchased a iPhone 17 Pro, and it was updated to IOS 26. The problem is that in the Message app, the keyboard and text has very low contrast. The keyboard is gray, with black text, and the dialog is white background with light gray text.

In a dark room, you can see it, but in the daylight the entire thing looks light gray.

Why anyone would design the screen this way is beyond me.

Is there any way to increase the contrast for this?

It does look fine on a large computer screen, however, in the daylight is very difficult to see. If you wish to use your phone in the outdoors, the contrast should be better, or at least have the option to change the contrast, or colors.

I have tried the increase contrast, smart invert, classic invert, etc. While some of these help with the display, they also reverse or affect photographs and other parts of the phone.

There does not seem to be a good solution to this issue.

It is unclear why it was even changed. There was not problem before.
