“Keyboard sound disappears unexpectedly

iOS 26.0.1: iPhone 16 pro Keyboard sound disapperas and appears randomly in all apps. Keyboard sound is ON in settings. Silent mode is OFF. Phone restart doen not resolve an issue. No similar issues were seen on iOS 18.“

No Tapping After an Update:

Without providing your location, note that turning off the tapping is not an option in all countries/regions through the world. So, I’d take that a big plus, if in such a location.

To Turn On Keyboard Tap Sounds on an iPhone: 

A. iPhone Settings App:

1. Open: Settings
2. Go to: Sounds & Haptics
3. Tap: Keyboard Feedback
4. Toggle Off: Sound
5. Toggle On: Sound

B. Third-Party Keyboard:

There might be a mute button that is turned on, on your keyboard. To turn if off, of an applicable.

Report this to Apple:

Do your Part: Provide Apple with feedback on this, letting them know about this issue.  Apple may not get back to you directly, but the more feedback they receive on this, the more they will know what is occurring, and what bug fixes to include in updates to come. Apple will know nothing of you occurrences, if you don't report it to them.

2. Select: "Bug Report" for the "Feedback Type"
3. Comment: that this all began after installing an update. Include the URL of this thread.
4. Proceed from there as necessary

In that case do as advised earlier, report it as a bug if forced restart does not fix it

What volume level is your Ringer sound? They are controlled together.
