Dead Zones on Screen
I got a new 14" 2024 MacBook Pro with an M4 Max processor running Tahoe. I migrated from my 13" 2020 MacBook Pro with an Intel i5 processor running Tahoe.
I immediately started experiencing dead zones on my screen where I couldn't click or zoom and where my keyboard input would intermittently go haywire as well. The dead zone regularly moved between the lower left corner, the lower right corner or somewhere in the middle of the screen.
After troubleshooting everything over the phone, an agent helped me discover the problem is the Accessibility Keyboard. When I minimize the A.K. it turns invisible but remains active, blocking that part of the screen. After further trouble shooting we failed to find a way to fix the bug. They said it could be an issue migrating from an older MacBook Pro, but that it could also be a hardware issue.
The two options we discussed that I can still attempt are:
1: Wipe the computer and start over.
2: Take it into an Apple Store for replacement.
I'll likely try wiping my computer in a few weeks once I've hit a couple deadlines and I'll take it to the Apple Store if that fails. But, as of this moment I don't have a guaranteed solution to the problem. For now I'll just turn the A.K. off.
Despite my best intentions, I probably won't take the time to update this with my final solution. I'm just putting it here so anyone else with similar issues has something else to try.
