I wanted to fix a drag and drop issue, like I can move files from one finder window to another. After trying to fix that my trackpad went insane. Clicking where I didn't want it, right clicking where I didn't want it. I hoped this upgrade would fix it... but nope. Still not working,

In or out of warranty you can get a free over the counter 'Apple Service Diagnostics' test /assessment
Make an appointment for a "hardware issue"

To trouble shoot further you can:
unplug all non-essential peripherals when testing
Uninstall all third party apps that are Cleaners/Optimizers/VPN/Anti-Virus
all known to cause issues on the macOS
—A SafeBoot Start up your Mac in safe mode - Apple Support will sort many anomalies
Does a quick disk repair before it fully boots up, and certain system caches get cleared and rebuilt, third party system modifications and system accelerations are disabled temporarily.
Login and test. Reboot as normal and test. Caches get rebuilt automatically.
This test will tell you if third party interference; most extensions etc are not loaded in safe boot mode.

This will tell you if it a universal issue or isolated to your user/admin account.

Of course they are here. They just don't officially admit it, as they don't want to commit to fixing stuff. But they are definitely reading these topics.
What was not working, and what exactly did you do to "Try to Fix it"?

For what it's worth, dragging from one Finder window to another works as it always has worked.
Something is wrong with your system, either software or hardware. Please give us more information so we can assist.
I am running Tahoe 26.2 on a MacBook Air 2025. Drag and drop has stopped working? I have tried everything I can think of. Anyone any idea why? It is a real pain - it does not work on the trackpad or mouse. When you try and drag it just highlights the next file and does not move? Never had this after 30 years of having a mac!

No, drag and drop is working as it always has. Something in your system is causing a problem. My guess is whatever software is used for your mouse needs to be updated.
I’m using a Mac mini M4 with an external Jomaa trackpad.

In my defense, I rarely use List View.
In Column View, which I use, it does not seem to have this problem.
Same here. I never use List view.
I use mostly list view, so the bug was apparent as soon as I upgraded to Tahoe. It’s still present in 26.1.
