Where is the status bar on the macOS Music app?

Ever since the macOS 26 update the status bar doesn't show anymore in the Music app. There's no way to see how many songs are selected or the duration of multiple selected songs. The option to show/hide the status bar is still in the menu, it just doesn't do anything now. Is this a bug? An oversight? Is the status bar being removed but they forgot to remove the menu option to show/hide it?

you can’t view the MB of a playlist without the status bar. That feature of iTunes was left out of the Music app for some unexplained reason. Many of us have music on our devices. You can’t manage it very easily without that status bar showing not only the number of songs, but the amount of memory it’s going to consume when you sync a device to your Mac music library.

be clear and constructive. Tell them to put this feature back in.

I can’t provide a screenshot because the original message is gone. On the upper left, there was a message that said:

"Sync Library is Off, Learn More."

If you don’t have that message, then provide a screenshot of what you do see in the upper left.

I clicked on Learn More, and followed the prompts in the new pop-up window, but don’t remember exactly what they were. Since I don’t want to sync the library, whatever options allowed me to keep sync off and dismiss the pop-up window is what made the message “Sync Library is Off, Learn More” go away, and in its place the status bar containing song count and all that reappeared. Do you have that message..?

Do you see the screenshot in this thread from timotylance...? That is it, but I've attached mine too so you can see the sidebar.

Notice he is in Songs view, not Home, Songs in the left sidebar under your Library. If you still don't see anything in that space up top, have you tried going to the View menu and look for the Show Status Bar or Hide Status Bar is selected..? I'm off to move snow for a while, back this evening.

Not sure I follow. Where else do you want it..? I can see it in Albums view, Artist View, Song View, Genres, and in each playlist. In a playlist you have to scroll down just a touch past the album artwork image at the top before it shows up, or there is a song total at the very end of a playlist too. Personally I only use Songs or Albums view, and playlists quite a lot. Is there something else you are trying to do..?
