I noticed that icon for iCloud in system preferences (settings) panel is missing after update. I have restarted the mac but the icon is not restored.
How to solve this.

I have the same issue. What fixed it for me was to not use the Multicolor theme in Appearance, so that's a bug.
Furthermore, if you're using the Multicolor theme and switch between an Icon & widget style, the icon will fix itself but it's temporary. Because the moment you quit and re-open Settings, the icon is broken again.
Here is how you fix it:
Go to: ~/Library/Preferences/ (Make sure it's your user Preferences and not System Library Preferences)
Locate com.apple.systempreferences.plist.
Move this file to the Desktop (this acts as a backup).
Restart your Mac.
Open System Settings and check if the icon has returned.
Let me know.
Try booting into Safe Mode then restart normally. Sometimes that will fix anomalies.
I tryed and it did not solve this problem.
The solution I found for now is to set the settings window size so it does not show the icloud icon or a few icon above it. Then after a new open of settings if you scroll down the settings you should see the icon is ok and not greyed out.

Sorry, I can't agree with you. Mine is there all the time and I've had multicolor enabled since it became available. Same on both of my Macs. I have no idea why you and some others see this problem, but I just can't replicate it. The only thing I can assume is you have some third-party system modification causing the problem. If it was an OS bug I would see it on at least one of my Macs.
The only other thing I can suggest is reinstalling Tahoe from Recovery Mode. I had a small problem a few versions ago, and that's the only thing that would fix it.

It's certainly possible but if so, it is definitely not a bug that affects everyone. Not a single 'Me Too' click in this thread, and I see the iCloud icon behaving normally in System Settings.
You can submit a bug report, but I suspect this is something specific to your system and that you may need to reinstall macOS.
The sidebar isn't greyed out its the default icon for when an icon is missing it look bait like a test card.
I have the same issue. It come back when going to accounts in mail swell. It's a bug I am sure not sure what events lead to its state.

A dozen people is not a lot, it's not even a blip relative to the millions running Tahoe.

I did boot into safe mode and restarted and it did not work. The icon is still not showing. I also cleared the icon cache but that also did not work. But sometimes it shows the icon for a couple of minutes and the it disappeared again and shows this grey box. That hapens on macos 26 as well on this 26.1. only this icon has problems like it is managed from could servers. I dont know.
You should let Apple know. We can't do anything about it.
The icon for iCloud is displayed when launching internet accounts from mail app file menu, but when you launch settings then it is grayed out. I think it is a bug that needs to be fixed.
