iphone 17 pro battery life

Hi

I bought a Iphone 17 pro a week ago today and have been experiencing bad battery performance.

Today for example i have been using my phone for 3,37 hours and used 66% battery. that is nowhere near what it should do.

Background activity is off on all apps and brightness set to about 50% The apps i have used most are snapchat, spotify and tiktok.

Is this normal?

  • Make sure you have updated to iOS 26.1
  • Make sure your apps noted are also updated. SnapChat was updated just 1 day ago and has been 19 updated in just the last months. TikTok was updated just 3 days ago and has 7 updates in the last month. Not all of those updates went smooth and bugs had been introduced. These apps do spend a lot of time and battery gathering as much information about you to build your Social Profile. That is how they generate billions of dollars selling your information while you use their service for free.
  • Spotify usage is more dependent on your cellular connection while streaming the music. The farther you are away from the nearest cell tower, the more power your phone will require to maintain that connection. If you see 1 or 2 bars for cellular, much more battery is being used than when see all your bars. Over time this can add up. Wifi is not as costly as a cellular connection when it comes to your battery.
  • Turning off Background App Refresh does not stop background activity. The purpose of that setting is just to update the UI in the background, and any app is free to use background activity with that setting turned off.

Everything is updated and so on. It doesn’t feel any better that my old 13 with 80% battery life.
I know snap is a thirsty app but that’s just 12% and tiktok 10%.
What about the rest then? The other 40% from barely using the device.

You would need to post a screenshot of what you see at Settings > Battery that shows the green battery graph with the previous 24 hours option and also the apps that are consuming the battery. Make not of what you see below the apps where is shows System usage also.

The Apps you've listed are notorious for eating through an iPhone Battery. None of them are owned by Apple, so Apple has no way to change anything in apps they don't own. I don't use those apps. I've been on my 17 Pro Max, since getting up a little after 7 this morning. My battery is at 98% right now. When I go to bed tonight, I'll likely still have about 90% remaining. There are many factors at play, when you use streaming apps. How strong your connection to Wifi is (assuming you're using Wifi). If you're streaming with Cellular, that will take more power too, especially if you don't have the strongest cellular connection in your location.
