Virus alert on iPhone during vacation

Scam. You don't have any viruses on your phone, it is a scam message designed to get you to purchase unnecessary software or phish for personal information.

The message is NOT from Apple. This is a common scam that is trying to trick you into buying useless software to fix a problem that does not exist.

However it will help to line the pockets of the scammers selling this junk.

Absolutely nothing to worry about here. Ignore and delete any messages like this that you might see. There will be more.

It's a scam. A message warning of malware will only be legitimate if it's in response to manually starting a scanner or uploading a file to a website.

Honestly, you can't really stop it. You will get these from time to time, just ignore them and move on. If it happens alot while visiting certain websites, just don't go to those sites anymoe.

You stop it by installing an ad blocker or not using websites or social media platforms that deliver such ads to you.

I have never been delivered such an ad on either my iOS devices or android devices.

There is really nothing to stop scams, just as there is nothing to stop junk mail and junk calls.

Scams are everywhere. Be careful.
