Forgot EFI (Firmware) password, but I’m the owner and have Apple ID — how to unlock?

Hello everyone,

I have a MacBook Pro 2017 A1706 that shows a padlock (EFI firmware password) when I try to start it.

I’m the legitimate owner — the device is linked to my Apple ID, and I can sign in to it.

Unfortunately, I’ve forgotten the EFI password and can’t boot into macOS or Recovery mode.

what should I do?

Thanks,

Ibrahim

Set a firmware password on your Mac - Apple Support

If you forgot the firmware password

If you can't remember your firmware password, schedule an in-person service appointment with an Apple Store or Apple Authorized Service Provider. Bring your Mac and its original receipt or invoice as proof of purchase.❞
