No, the contents of typed messages aren't sent anywhere until you press the send arrow. The recipient will be aware that you're typing, however, as a bubble with three pulsing dots will appear for the recipient for a period while you type (assuming you're using iMessage and not SMS). I assume you're asking about Apple's own Messages app; other apps might work differently.

If you're asking about unsending a iMessage after sending it, the recipient might still be able to view the message if they haven't updated their iPhone to iOS 16 to later.
