How to turn off all the liquid glass effects in iOS 26?

Maybe a million people like me will leave feedback with Apple, thanking them for iOS 26 too! You just can't make everyone happy. It's not possible. But turn off ALL of the Liquid Glass effects is simply NOT possible. They are hard coded into the UI of iOS 26.

As Bob Timmons writes, it is not possible to disable liquid glass.

Liquid glass is the new design, and just like when a car gets a new design, it is not something you can change. Apple will probably implement features over time that make it possible to tone down the glass design, so that it matches everyone's needs. But for now, there are only small things you can change.

You can tone down the glass a little here:

Settings > Display & Brightness > Liquid Glass > select Tinted.

Otherwise, just wait and see what time brings.

Unfortunately, your question assumes that this is possible.

You're very welcome. I would not be expecting an on/off switch as my user tip explains why that won't happen. Apple does listen to user feedback. Apple offered more customization in iOS 26.1 and as time goes on, we can anticipate, more flexibility will be offered. But the ability to turn off Liquid Glass completely isn't something anyone should be expecting. I read a fascinating article the other day on why Liquid Glass is just the beginning for flat screen user touch devices. I didn't retain a copy of it. But rest assured, Liquid Glass is not only never going away, you'll most assuredly see other companies begin to add such elements to their User Interfaces. We just all need to give it time to mature, which it surely will.

On a final note, there is nothing inside of Liquid Glass, which can slow your phone down. If you're having issues with slowness, there is something else which would be causing that, but that's a topic for a different discussion.

If that is still difficult for an elderly user to see try these (my wife likes them)

Settings, Accessibility, Display & Text size, reduce transparency 

Settings, Accessibility, Display & Text size , increase contrast (does not affect images)

Settings, Accessibility, Motion, Reduce motion

Settings, Accessibility, Display & Text size , Display Borders
