How do I recover an unsent email that disappeared on MacBook Air?

A mail disappeared without trace. I was still writing it. I saved it every time that I left the MacBook Air. Still I cannot find it back anywhere.

When I read an email on my MacBook Pro, it disappears When I read an email on my MacBook, it disappears. It is not every 'read' email, only random ones..it seems like it's the important ones. I don't know where they go to. I can find them if I search for the person it came from but when I try to save it to a folder it's not there. Please help. This is very frustrating.
