Cursor Jumps backward in Mac and IOS notes app tables.

I chatted with Apple support today. First suggestion was a hard restart. I thought I had done that, but found that restart is the same as power off: quick volume up, quick volume down, hold button on right side till you see what you want. When I did the restart correctly, my jumpy cursor in Notes was gone!

You’d think Apple would know by now how to do threads in discussions, because then you’d see all my comments in a logical progression and realize the “hard restart” didn’t solve the problem after all. Regardless, this is the sequence to power off and power on: quick volume up, quick volume down, hold button on right side till you see what you want (slide to power off or the black screen with the white apple).

Having the same problem. iOS 26.1. iPhone 15 Pro. Happening in notes With table. I noticed if I type slower, it seems to happen much less or not at all. I’m guessing this is a problem with their predictive typing algorithm.

I'm using MacOS 26.1 and am having this same problem. If it was happening in previous OS versions, it is MUCH worse now!! I have to s l o w d o w n my typing so much to avoid the issue that the Notes app is almost unusable!

Apple...please pay attention to this!!

I have the same issue here on a brand new iPad Pro M5 with iPadOS 26.1. In some apps (e.g., Obsidian), the cursor just goes all the way up or down the page, like someone is constantly pressing the up or down arrows. This happens with and without the magic keyboard attached.

IOS 26.2, iPhone 16. This cursor jumping happens all the time when typing anything in Notes. It was not happening in previous iOS (18.xx?). This is even more frustrating than the constant downward spiral of autocorrect.

I have the same issue in Notes on my iPad Pro w/ 26.1. Only in tables and both text and numbers.

Still happening January 2026 for me...

Sorry, the cursor is jumping in Notes again. But not always.

This is still happening to me and it is super frustrating.
