Apple Watch Series 5 stop monitoring resting heart rate after March 2025

Apple Watch series 5 stopped monitoring resting heart rate since March 2025. Is there a reason for this?

I’ve attempted re-pairing my Apple Watch with my iPhone but the data seems to only exist up until March 2025.

Please advise.

Why is my Apple Watch not recording heart rate during workouts? On this morning’s walk workout, and others in the past, the watch has not been recording the heart rate for the whole walk. In today’s case, only the last 40%. The band is tight and the back of the watch is clean and free of scratches. Seems to be a common problem. Losing faith in the watch and Apple. My Apple Watch is not reading heart rate during workouts via Heart Rate app When in a Workout, I often have many minutes where my heart rate measure is not working. It will say "Measuring..." in the Heart Rate app or a grayed out number with the "processing" heart in the Workout app. This typically happens until I open the Heart Rate app and watch it for at least a minute. Occasionally, I will get a suggestion to reset the heart rate (heart icon with a circular arrow in the middle). What I don't understand is why the watch doesn't tell me it's having an issue reading my heart rate during a workout. If I step off my treadmill for a minute it repeatedly asks me if I'm done with my workout, but if my heart rate can't be read, I don't get a single notification?? I have some theories: The watch isn't sitting on my wrist correctly so it can't read my heart rate. Understandable... by why no notification after a minute or two? The watch isn't near my iPhone (and I don't have the watch with cellular service). This one shouldn't matter, and it may be correlation not causation. I think I figured it out! I switched of the "Wrist Detection" feature on the Apple Watch after finishing my wrist tattoo as it kept locking.

I've now kept it on but it sure seems Apple Watch cannot register wrist detection on tatooed skin. Am I correct in assuming this?

Correct! Without wrist detection, your watch can also not detect your movement, exercise and how many times you are standing up, to close the rings.
