I need help i found an old iphone that belonged to one of my family members i dont know what kind i think its the iphone 5 and I want to use it but it has an activation lock is there any way i can get past this so i can use this phone for myself?

The iPhone 5 is thoroughly obsolete. Although it has a smidgen of 4G/LTE support, it doesn't have much. With 2G/3G networks shut down in many parts of the world, "extremely limited 4G/LTE support" might mean that you cannot use it as a phone.
It has a 32-bit processor and can never update past iOS 10.*.
So it may not be that useful even if you get the help of the person to whom it is locked.
