Siri not verbally dialing phone numbers

I used to command Siri verbally to dial a phone number like "Siri. Dial 1-*********0." Siri reads this as a long numerical number instead of a phone number, and after many years, will NOT dial or call." I do not want to save every number in. I want to read a number a have the number called. Will this ever be fixed?
