iPhone backup fails: 'not enough storage' vs. low usage
I get the message that I can't back up my phone because i dopn't have enough storage. However it says I'm only using 1.2gb of the 50gb. why ???
iPhone 13, iOS 17

How much space is available on your iPhone? Settings > General > iPhone Storage. Not having enough free space on the device itself can prevent a successful backup.

You've certainly used a lot of the available memory on your iPhone, but you should have enough space to backup to iCloud. See this and see if anything helps --> If you can't back up to iCloud - Apple Support
Your phone has a total of 256GB of storage space with 50GB available. That means it has roughly 206 GB of data on it. 50 GB of cloud storage is not enough space to hold the data on your phone that needs to be backed up.

Just cleared some files and have 50gb available on the phone and 48gb available in cloud. The error message says not enough cloud storage. Doesn’t make sense
I’m not backing all of it up. I don’t back up photos or documents. I have it paired down to just essentials. The other gripe I have is that it won’t even tell me what the back up size actually is.
