Can iPhone use split screen or multitasking?

Is there a way to have a split screen/multitasking/Split View on an iPhone? Example: Texting and reading a saved note at the same time. Not solely browser capable.

multitasking in ios 18 on iphone 12 Pro I can't figure out how to multitask (go back to whatever app I was previously using) on my iPhone 12 Pro (iOS 18). On my previous phone with a home button, pressing the home button twice would take me back to the last thing I was working on before the screen I am currently on. How do I do that in iOS 18?

Message split screen I’m have IOS 17.5.1 on my iPad. Is there a way to not have my text message page split screen? It makes my brain itch that way.

Split Screen multitasking is exclusive to the iPad. Most newer iPads can do this, such as the iPad A16, so it's not limited to the high-end models. As Servant of Cats points out, iPhones don't have this option - supposedly due to the smaller screen size.

Not that I know of. I think there may be a feature like that on select high-end iPads.
