Outgoing iPhone calls are being redirected

When I make outgoing calls to friends and family my phone works fine. When I make calls to certain businesses, sometimes my calls are redirected to people (usually with accents - not always) that are posing as the business that I am calling. If I look at my recent call list while talking to them, it shows an unknown number above the number that I actually dialed. It seems they pose to collect whatever information they can. It sometimes happens while I am on hold and once after speaking to the person (not for a financial transaction) the person reconnected me to the original hold que for me to get help w my device but it never goes smoothly like a normal call. Please help. The first time it occurred my bank was able to confirm a call was diverted in the first split second of the connection but I took my phone to the Apple Store and the carrier and they say it is fine. It keeps happening.WHAT CAN I DO?

For what you are reporting here to be an exploit or a “hijacker”, the exploit tooling involved is worth millions of dollars. You being worth millions to target and with a very well-funded adversary also places this discussion far beyond what help that can be offered here, for technical snd for privacy reasons.

Further, being redirected within the cellular network involves a carrier compromise, and that too places this further outside what help can be offered here.

Or there’s something else going on here, whether that is an Apple Account compromise with incorrect numbers stored in the Contacts list, maybe a generic carrier issue, or something else.

Problems with business phone systems are far from unusual, though those problems do not show as either incoming or outgoing and contemporaneous calls in the call list. (That inclusion of contemporaneous calls would potentially be evidence of issues, too.) Carrier call-handling issues are also not going to be addressable here. And the Cloudflare outage yesterday probably knocked some call-handling systems offline, too.

How long has this been ongoing?

What account security-related steps have you already taken? Two-factor authentication?

Have you reported the mis-routed (or dropped?) calls to the businesses and to your carrier?

Libre 3 is the name of a blood glucose monitoring system. If medical issues are potentially involved (and nobody here knows or can know that), check with your medical provider.

It is my phone. It is happening to businesses plural and new numbers not in my contacts. I.e. calling the number off a Libre 3 Sensor box to better understand the readings and system. The call was somehow intercepted and when they could not get any valuable information they placed me back in the queue and a real Libre 3 rep picked up (no accent). Closer to when it first happened I called my credit card company and I questioned the lady thoroughly before preceding… but when she picked up, she verified that I was there and said, “That was weird. Something really weird happed when your call was transferred (automatically).” I have wondered if when that happened the person was trying to hijack the call but failed. That was a singular event. Usually, the “hijacker” picks up the call smoothly from whatever automated system that I am calling. This is not a singular business with a breach.
