How to stop 'software was updated' message and fix search issues after macOS Tahoe upgrade?

Hi,

I am using a mac mini m4 with OS Tahoe 26.1

I have the issue that every time after I restart I get the message that my software was updated.

I try to fix that like it was mentioned in other community quotes, like starting in safe mode, reinstalling mac OS but it is still there, even when I start in safe mode I will get that message.

It drives me nuts also that no search works in notes or mail after I upgraded to Tahoe.

Does anybody has a clue what else I could try to fix those problems?

Perhaps a Screen Shot of this " I get the message that my software was updated. "

In theory and predicated on the Tahoe 26.1 was actually installed

It is difficult to see why this message should be presented

At least on 1 M4 Desktop, 1 M4 Laptop and 1 M2 Desktop each updated to 26.1

Not getting this message

Go figure

Thanks for trying to help but nothing worked actually.

So I decided to wipe my mac clean and install Sequioa.

Now everything works normal.

Judging from what has been shared from the beginning of the question to current

This issue seems localized and unique to your computer setup

The M4 Mac Mini was designed and made by Apple to run macOS 26 Tahoe

To share, also running a M4 Mac Mini which originally came with Sequoia 15.5

Have updated through all versions Sequoia until the release of Tahoe 26.0 released Sept 15, 2025

Since then update to latest Tahoe 26.2 and not experienced any of the issue you have outlined

In closing

If downgrading back to Sequoia worked - great

I quote from a colleague of mine @ Ingo2711 who seems to have the answer to your question

If this works and hope it does

Any and all credit goes to my colleague

Quote " I would suggest to log out of the Apple Account on both devices, restart them and log into the Apple Account again.

Since my MacBook Pro could not be upgraded beyond Catalina, when this happened in the past, I guess that newer Apple Account features on one device require to log out and log in on all connected devices. Especially when you use Passwords or FindMy, which sync information across different firmware versions. " END Quote
