How to change the Apple ID on an iPad

My wife has a new iPad. I took hers and want to change the Apple ID to my Apple account. How do I do that.

Her iPad is iOS 16.7.12 and mine is 15.8.5.

Have her set it up for you as in

What to do before you sell, give away, or trade in your iPhone or iPad - Apple Support

You can then set it up for your use as if it was a brand new device.
