iPhone 6 not recognized by iTunes for password reset

I forgot my password on my iPhone 6 to the point where I need to connect to iTunes. When I plug my phone in however, nothing pops up in iTunes. Everything is definitely connected, I downloaded iTunes today, and I've updated my computer. Any help would be great, please and thank you.

What is your iOS?

You are doing only half of the required steps, you need to boot your iPhone into recovery mode. But, the only way to reset the password is to reinstall iOS. So, follow the instructions below:

  1. Make sure that your Mac is up to date. If you're using a PC, make sure you have the latest version of the Apple Devices app or iTunes.
  2. Connect your device to your computer with a USB cable.
  3. Open the Finder on your Mac, or open the Apple Devices app on your PC. If your PC doesn't have the Apple Devices app, or your Mac is using macOS Mojave or earlier, open iTunes instead.
  4. follow the Live Photo below 👇

now click the reinstall iOS. Wait to unplug until the process is completed.
