iOS 26.1 update broke app permissions — Camera, Tracking, and other privacy settings missing

I have an iPhone 14 and updated to iOS 26.1 and now several apps (Snapchat, Tumblr, etc.) can’t function because iOS no longer shows the permissions they need.

When I open Snapchat, it says I need to allow Camera access, but when I go to Settings → Snapchat, there is no Camera or Microphone toggle at all. When I go to Settings → Privacy & Security → Camera, the entire page is blank — no apps listed, and no way to add them. Tumblr also tries to show the “Allow tracking?“ pop-up, but iOS never displays it, so the app gets stuck.

I’ve already tried:

  • Restarting the phone
  • Force-restart
  • Reinstalling the apps
  • Reset Location & Privacy
  • Reset Network Settings

Nothing worked. It seems like the permissions database is corrupted after the 26.1 update and iOS isn’t rebuilding it.

Has anyone else had this issue since updating? And is there a fix besides doing a full reinstall through a computer?

Same issue. Calendar just asked for Location permission again. It’s not even showing in settings after granting it. Not sure what setting is really active now.

Its not necessarily the update 26(.1) itself that breaks it, I have updated a while ago and issues started only a couple of days ago. Glad(?) to see I’m not the only one.

This seems to also affect my Watch. Apps actually get deleted for some reason, sometimes reinstall themselves eventually/on clicking the Widget that’s still there (sometimes at least). They too asked for permission after opening them again but it’s not shown in Settings. E.g. I granted permission now both on Watch and Phone for Calendar but don’t see it in settings.

So far this happened with Weather and Calendar, both asking for Location permission. Weather asked multiple times that day.
