Scan documents automatically to A4 format PDF

Scanned a document using the iOS "Scan Document" feature, tried to add the pages to an existing PDF and the image size is enormous!

It's about 10x the size of all the other pages in the document and therefore unusable.

Very badly implemented/tested.

Is there a workaround for this which works fine in 3rd party apps (which I will now have to use again I note)

iPhone 13, iOS 17

No, I was using the built in 'scan documents' feature that appears in ios

I can't see why this would be any different from the same feature in Notes.

Try scanning a document using the iOS Notes app. You may be using a third-party scanning application.
