I am using hide my email address in several apps, now that the app sends an email to my email address (privaterelay.appleid.com) email I am not receiving it. I tried sending an email using my gmail account to that email but it gets bouncing back saying that address not found. How will I manage to receive email on that email address as it was supposed to forward all the email to y gmail account but not receiving it.

You cannot test the relay by emailing yourself from Gmail → that always fails.
Reactivate the Hide My Email entry:
Settings → iCloud → Hide My Email → tap address → Turn Off → Reactivate.
Restart iCloud Mail (turn off → on).
Confirm Gmail is still your forwarding address.
If the address remains invalid (still bounces from external senders) → create a new Hide My Email alias.
