How to restore normal Desktop view on iMac

My Finder view is now my main Desktop view on my i-Mac. This view does show a folder with the name of my usual Desktop with all it's files in the folder.

I made some changes in Settings to reduce storage, optimize photo's etc and this resulted.

How can I get back to my normal desktop view?

I'm using a 2017 i-Mac 4K an with external 1 TB hardrive as the start up disk with OS Ventura 13.7.8

iMac 21.5″ 4K, macOS 13.7

It sounds like you activated iCloud Drive and had the Desktop & Documents folder included:

If you want the Desktop to be as it was try unselecting Desktop & Documents Folders option. Be sure to select to keep a copy on the Mac.
